We’re all guilty of it once and a while: Instagramming our food.
Especially on holiday travels, but also at home or in our local café, it becomes clear: food is one of the small yet great pleasures of life.
Social media has allowed us to share it with our friends (and the world) so easily that it’s almost become a part of every restaurant outing or surprisingly appealing looking home-made meal to just take a quick snap and share it.
‘Symmetry Breakfast’, an Instagram profile on which photos are posted daily of a perfectly symmetrical breakfast for two, takes this social phenomenon even further.
It was accidentally started by Michael Zee, a Londoner who works as an educational officer at a museum, as he prepared breakfast for his boyfriend one morning. It looked so beautifully uniform that he just had to take a pic and share it!
He kept on doing it each day, and a huge following automatically grew.
Today, the account (https://instagram.com/symmetrybreakfast//) has 240,000 followers … a pretty good sign of how popular this type of subject is!
From a typical English breakfast, to croissants, to waffles and arepas – every type of breakfast has the potential for an aesthetically pleasing visual in the hands of Michael.
